Taya Brownaaron_penvose
Farmers Market Manager, Value-Added Specialist, Dr. Doolittle

Taya was raised in South Seattle's Beacon Hill neighborhood by her mom and grandmother, and her passion since childhood has always been animals. As a child she worked at a pet shop and would bring home all kinds of critters. Now, as an adult, she is notorious for showing up at the farm with orphan goats, heritage turkeys, or a pig that she just couldn’t resist.

After graduating from high school Taya went to work on a fishing boat in the Bering Sea in Alaska. Since that time travel has remained an important part of Taya’s life, and she has since spend time in 23 of our states, Mexico, New Zealand and all over Europe and Australia.

Taya is the type of person who has to enjoy what she doing and feel like she is making some sort of positive impact on her surroundings. In farming she loves that she is working directly with the people who will eat what she sells them. She loves talking about varieties of veggies, the farming behind our products, recipes, gardening tips, and livestock with customers. She also loves the diversity of our crew at the farm, and the fact that no two days at the farm are the same.

Right now her favorite crop is winter squash. “I am just enthralled by the character of these plants, and how huge some of them get. It’s amazing to me that one little seed, and one little vine can turn soil, sunshine, and water into such an amazing creation that will store from fall until spring and still be great to eat!”

Taya manages our stalls at the Columbia City, Lake City, and Broadway farmers markets, and she is also the inspiration behind many of our livestock projects. She is constantly helping out team come up with creative marketing solutions, and her passion for food, livestock, and simple living makes her an asset that is difficult to find or replace!
