Dana Zemel-Miglietta
LFE Manager, Super Smile, and Educated!

Dana is the manager of Growing Washington’s Local Food Exchange in downtown Bellingham, and has done a tremendous job starting from scratch to create a viable food hub for local food producers and local customers. Dana is native to Bellingham and studied Cultural Geography and the University of Washington before getting her masters degree in Food Culture and Communication in Parma, Italy, at Slow Food’s University of Gastronomic Sciences. Dana’s European experience not only netted her a great food-centered education; She also brought her future (and current) husband with her across the ocean and made him work with her on a CSA farm in Western Colorado before moving back to Washington.

In addition to running the Local Food Exchange, Dana is instrumental in helping the Growing Washington team connect local producers with the consumers in a number of ways. She assists in the management of the our online farm store and restaurant delivery program, is always on hand to help with the Growing Whatcom CSA, and is actively engaged and interested in working on various projects in the community. Dana’s outgoing, energetic and charismatic personality has made her a favorite among local farmers, and her dedication to her work has made her a team member everyone appreciates and respects.

In her spare time Dana slings fine wines at the Temple Bar, loves cooking, has started to dabble in canning, and loves the outdoors and traveling.
