Do you ever get tired of non-profits telling you that they will not be able to do their work unless you become a premium member? Do you enjoy getting solicitation phone calls at dinner? Do you ever wonder why non-profits assign sea life or animal names to their contributors, and seem to try and trick people into thinking that the more they donate, the more in common they will share with the bigger, higher-up-the-food-chain animals? If you can only afford to give a little you are classified as an “Anemone” or a “Possum”, but if you’ve got a lot to give you get to be a “Great White Shark” or a “Grizzly Bear”!

At Growing Washington we respect all giving equally, and we seek to offer a membership that is earned and prized, not one that is bought and then becomes a subsequent annual liability/guilt trip for our members. We don’t want to have to bribe people with canvas bags and colorful return address stickers or promise that membership includes access to 4 “awesome” newsletters per year.

We respect all giving, whether that giving be someone’s time spent weeding for a couple afternoons at the Food Bank Farm, whether it be someone buying $3 worth of carrots and greens at one of our farmers market stands, or whether someone signed up for one of our CSAs or helped the Small Potato Gleaning Project—these individual gifts are all worthy of membership to Growing Washington. If you helped us alongside the road when one of our trucks broke down consider yourself a member. If you sell your food through one of our projects you are part of the family. If you don’t participate in any of our programs, but support and identify with what we are doing, consider yourself a member.

I want to receive occasional—but not too many—updates on what the organization is up to, I want to hear about special events and fun farm dinners, and I want to learn about exciting new projects, programs, and farm happenings. I want to eat lots of good food. I want to support Sustainable Agriculture and Sound Communities! In General, I would like to be kept in the loop, but not harassed. I want to support Growing Washington, and I want Growing Washington to continue supporting my community as best it can.

While becoming a member of Growing Washington does not require that you pay an annual membership fee to enjoy all of our programs and services, as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization any donation to us is tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law! So, if you are in the giving mood we’ll put your resources to good work. We promise.
