Gobble, Gobble Share:
Buy Local for Thanksgiving the easy and efficient way! Buy your own heritage turkey this spring and let Growing Washington raise it for you on our farm, right up until Thanksgiving! This year Growing Washington will be offering a one-week CSA share specifically for Thanksgiving. Shares will be completely sourced from local farmers and other purveyors of fine foods and spirits, and are available in a variety of sizes ranging from a small gathering of 4-8 people to a 20+ person holiday major-rager. Customers may start with the basics (think turkey, mashed potatoes, green salad, stuffing, cranberry sauce, vegetable side and apple pie) and then add-on from a long list of specific dishes and corresponding products. Imagine local sweet potatoes, winter squash, veggie platters, cranberry sauce, old fashioned butter, handcrafted cheese, delectable wine, oven fresh bread, pastured brown eggs, thick-sliced Skagit bacon (just for good measure) and getting to eat your own turkey. Everything you need in one convenient stop! Like Wal-Mart, except exactly opposite. Customers will be buying their turkeys in advance (we are simply raising these turkeys—the customers own them). Shares must be purchased by July to ensure that the turkeys fatten up by November. Families will choose between two heritage breeds of turkeys, and may visit their turkey at any time. Naming turkeys is optional. Gobble, Gobble Shares start at $200.00 and are available to customers in King, Snohomish, Skagit, and Whatcom Counties. Turkeys will be raised by new generation and immigrant farmers in a mutually educational and profitable project.
