Our Farms
The food for the Local Choice Food Box comes from several Washington farms. Most of our vegetables are grown at 21 Acres, our farm just to the south of Woodinville, WA.

21 Acres sits in the heart of the Sammamish Valley along the Sammamish River and the Burke Gilman Trail. It is one of the few remaining farms in what was once one of the most productive agricultural valleys in the US. The site, along with another adjacent 70 acres, are owned by the non-profit group 21 Acres whose goal it is to preserve this farm land as open space and manage it sustainably. A second non-profit, Growing Washington, farms the site making the 21 Acres farm a study in sustainability and community cooperation.

What had long ago been a daffodil farm and a dairy, the 21 Acres site had lain fallow for 40 years prior to 21 Acres acquiring it nine years ago. Over the past three years, Growing Washington and 21 Acres have worked to return this beautiful space back into a working farm providing organically grown vegetables to families in the Seattle area.

Along with the 21 Acres site, Growing Washington is responsible for overseeing the farming operations at Alm Hill Gardens, one of the oldest and best organic farms in Washington State. Located in Everson, WA near Bellingham, Alm Hill provides the Local Choice Food Box with raspberries and blueberries, years of farming expertise and market stands where food boxes can be picked up.

The Local Choice Food Box also relies on several organic farms in Washington to provide fruit to our customers. Acma Orchards, Tiny's Organics, Alvarez Organic Farm, and Bellewood Acres all provide excellent local, organic fruit for our customers to choose from.
